Early 2019, Roving Heights books came up with a small contest requiring that we should write a short poem using the word “Bliss”. I did and won. They then gave me a book titled “Awakening 11:11″. After a short while, I developed those four lines that won me the prize into the poem you are about to read.

Note-

This Poem begins with the words I used in the contest.

Read and enjoy it.

I was lost in the maze of love

Asleep on the bed of bliss

Dreaming of the wonders of our future together

Till the rude awakening of your wife’s call.

************************

It withdrew the light in paradise imagined

Promises mumbled in amorous moments became meaningless echoes

It left me sailing aimlessly on the ocean of my tears

Mayday Mayday, Mayday; terminated love is still active love.

************************

I hate her for being so ruthlessly truthful

I hate myself more for being so gullibly stupid

Did I really think he was going to leave her for me

I am struggling to forget what resists being forgotten.

************************

I bought what passion placed on sale

Ignoring the cautioning of wisdom

Every woman has at home things they bought with glee and later regretted

My journey of pain began with the encouragement of unchained emotions.

************************

Sore, pained, drenched in red floods, I still made you happy

You traversed the alleys and streets of my body unrestrained

Wild times, dreams and hopeful thoughts

Without warning, the house of passion crumbled just because of a phone call.

************************

I would soon be a faded memory to you

One of the many waves that washed the beach of your life

The swim able ocean of bond between us we will no longer swim across

You were just a long walk that started in a mad moment when I made a wrong turn.

************************

My paradise has been upended

To escape, I must commit suicide

You died when you took another woman’s man” my nosy sister “voiced”

“His wife’s call was the announcement for your cremation”.

SELAH.

Side chick, side kick, strange woman, mistress etc. Whatever its called will always end up as pain. I pray that every woman or man finds someone to truly call their own. It’s not easy being alone

    Amen

Correct !! I hope that we makers of the image of God would be able to learn from the words and stopped turning stiffer necks to the God commands.
The poem is an eye opener. Thank for sharing!

Love is beautiful but can make a fool, even of the most intelligent. The power of love!!
When one’s heart seeks another already owned, life has a way of bringing one back to his/her senses. May God guide and direct our steps.
You nailed it my Bishop. Absolutely amazing!!
Great poem like always. πŸ‘ ✊
