I was influenced to write this Prose/Poetry piece after a discussion with one of my daughters about the roles of women in the society and the pressures they go through which in most times goes unappreciated.

Read and enjoy.

This is my own contribution to honour Womenfolk.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I had a cut on one of my fingers
Bleeding badly
So I cleaned it
No time to treat it.

Why don’t you treat it, the Clergyman asked
Dishes, laundry, house chores
If I don’t do it
No one will do it.

I kept dipping it into water
It’s healing, it’s not healing
It healed the third day whilst I was dipping it into water
Doing dishes, laundry and house chores.

I am a Woman
Got only 24hrs
If I don’t do it
No one will do it.

If I am successful She sleeps around.
If I dance She is seeking a man’s attention.
If I talk She’s complaining.
If I don’t talk She’s a snob.
If I laugh Get a grip, can’t you control yourself.
Offer my ideas She is controlling and manipulative.
Speak your mind Very rude and condescending.
You are very strong Slave more for us.
You are beautiful Just hips, lashes and a pretty face.
I am tired Very lazy and unserious.

Things to do today.
Clothes to wash.
Floors to mop.
Groceries to buy.
Cooking to be done.
Try not to complain.
Be Super-Mum today.
Kids to care for.
Homework with the kids.
Clean up after them.
Text my gist partner,… “too busy to gist”.
Text Mum and Dad, apologies, “too busy”.
Cancel appointment with the hairdresser.
Appointment with the dentist cancelled.
Suffer the toothache. for another week
Get the dog food.
Ignore your aching legs and back.
Apologize to your In-laws.
Husband’s are always right.
Just shut your mouth.
Accept you were wrong.
Cry in the kitchen.
Weep in the bathroom.
Sob on your pillow.
Wail in your dreams.
Pray and Fast.
Be awake till he returns.
Smile when he returns.
Food must be hot.
Pick up after him.
Sleep with him.
Forgotten to eat.
What are we eating tomorrow?
Sleep last.
Wake up first.
Reload again tomorrow.

Wow the things you said are true and no one can argue them, and for me, I do have great respect for womanhood and don’t celebrate any man who doesn’t.

Why, what can we do? Nature has made us the way we are. I pray for God’s strength, wisdom to carry out our role as mothers, wives, in-laws. It’s only God that can see us through this journey. Daddy thanks for writing.

Women are awesome and have super powers to do all. They are the best in multi tasking. Kudos to our mothers, wives, sisters and all the women out there.
